GET TO KNOW US

willow & birch coffee co. operates from a vintage 1967 Renault Estafette van affectionately known as ‘Zoe’. We are situated in the beautiful Millbuies Country Park just 5 minutes’ drive out of Elgin. We offer barista style coffee, speciality teas, chai latte, hot chocolate & soft drinks, as well as a kid’s offering including the ever so popular babycino! Our cake cabinet is always stacked full of the most amazing range of bakes- we aim to have 50% of our offering Vegan and all our cakes are bought fresh every week from two local bakers.

Welcoming you to willow & birch is myself, Louise, and thanks to the wonderful renovation work my partner Nick did on the van, ‘Zoe’ has been a dream come true. I was first inspired to open a coffee business after travelling and working as a barista in Australia nearly 10 years ago, and in April 2022 it was finally time to open the hatch. My first year in business has been really enjoyable. It’s been great to see so many people coming to Millbuies to explore the walk and surroundings whilst enjoying a coffee and cake. Its lovely to have regular customers coming for coffee and often a chat, and there are still new people visiting who have just discovered willow & birch.

LET'S TALK COFFEE

The coffee we serve...

The perfect pairing...

Our coffee is from ‘Grain & Grind’ who have their roastery in Inverness. It has been very well received by our customers, and they have been a great local business to work with. We sell 12oz ‘Keep Cup’ cups at the van.

Vegan – Raspberry, Almond & White Choc Blondie (oozy jam with a nice sweet hit from the white choc).

Non Vegan – Kinder Billionaire (brownie bottom, caramel center, topped with kinder spread: for those with a sweet tooth.)

For non-coffee drinkers...

Chai Latte: especially tasty and creamy when made with Oat Milk.

ADVENTURE TIME

Millbuies Country Park has a walk right on my door step! The main walk is a loop around the loch. You can make it a shorter loop round the first half of the loch (about 20 mins), or the full loop is about 40mins.

The walk around the loch is so peaceful. You are always lucky enough to see ducks, swans, red squirrels and I have a couple of robins who have kept me company at the van since day 1. My van is situated in a big grass area next to the car park which is great for picnics, and family/friend get togethers; it’s a great space for kids to roam around in the trees so mum & dad can enjoy their coffee!

We offer a compostable bin for customers to use. We also have a bin for cans/plastic bottles. There are a number of public bins along the walk. All willow & birch packaging is compostable.

ACCESSIBILITY

The grass area where my van is parked is pram & wheelchair friendly. There is a designated disabled parking space next to my van.

The walk is not suitable for wheelchairs or prams (although possibly a robust all terrain pram). The path is quite uneven and has a lot of tree roots sticking out.
