GET TO KNOW US

Byres farm is a mixed arable and livestock farm on the banks of the River Spey in Moray. It is farmed by the Smith family as part of their farming business. They grow malting barley for the Speyside Whisky industry, and keep beef cattle, sheep and pigs.

The family have created a unique facility on the farm to allow children and the public to see first hand what happens on a real farm. It is an opportunity to showcase Scottish farming to the public and educate people in the food production process, from field to fork. It is a great way of engaging the community with the Scottish countryside.

Byres Farm offers weekly groups for pre-school children, one off events and is open to the public every weekend. Farm tours, Group outings and corporate packages are also offered and can be tailored to suit your individual requirements.

Byres farm also have  a series of circular  walks and a self service coffee shop which are open to the public 7am – 7pm 7 days a week.

LET'S TALK COFFEE

The coffee we serve...

The perfect pairing...

For non-coffee drinkers...

We have a high tech touch screen, contactless payment, self service bean to cup coffee machine.  We serve Caber coffee beans from Aberdeen.

A nice traybake from our snack shop.  Our personal favourite is the honeycomb crunch.

Our Luxury chocolate milk, or a summerhouse drinks lemonade on a hot day.

ADVENTURE TIME

BYRES FARM, FOCHABERS

We have 3 themed circular walks here at Byres Farm ranging from 1.5km to 3km.  Each walk has a different theme with beautifully illustrated information boards. Enjoy beautiful scenery and a walk while learning a bit about the countryside and what is going on in the fields.

The red walk is our short kids trail and features QR codes taking you to short videos of farm work footage. These videos change seasonally to keep this walk interesting. Our yellow walk is our conservation and pollination walk taking you through the fields to the banks of the river Spey. Our Blue walk is our Farm and Whisky trail taking you step by step through all the processes required to grow a crop of barley before it goes to the distillery.

Each walk starts and finishes at our self service coffee shop.  We have Byres Farm recycled plastic cups for sale.  All coffee is  served in compostable cups with compostable lids.

ACCESSIBILITY

We do not recommend this trail for prams and wheelchairs, as it crosses grass paths and uneven terrain. We have recycling bins for our cups and lids.  We compost these on the farm and then spread this on the land.
